The all-new 2012MY M-Class will make its U.S. debut at retail in September 2011 and includes two models: ML350 4MATIC and ML350 BlueTEC.
Dr. Thomas Weber, Daimler board member of Research Group AG and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development, says: "M-Class has all the experience of the car, we have accumulated over 125 years and therefore - in short - a jump on the quantum efficiency, safety, agility and design! "
Runner: high performance offers a wide range.
State-of-the-art engines and a full range of fuel efficiency measures will affect all provide excellent energy efficiency. BlueTEC diesel engines and the new generation of gasoline direct-blue offer an excellent starting point for the efficiency of the new M-Series.
ML350 BlueTEC uses all-new 3.0-liter V6 engine that meets emissions standards in all 50 states and offers much better performance, but fuel consumption is significantly lower. Efficiency improvements were achieved mainly through the innovative use TWAS (twinwire-arc spray) technology - in use since 2005 successful AMG high-performance engines.
The positive outcomes of the AMG Mercedes-Benz led to customize this technology cylinder wall coating for use in diesel engines and V6. The process reduces the internal friction of the engine significantly. Meanwhile, the weight was reduced by 9.5 kg., Since there is no further need for cast iron cylinder liners, which until now have been pressed into the engine block. The benefits are striking: with these measures alone could reduce fuel consumption by about 3 percent.
The ML350 4MATIC gasoline-powered model, on the other hand, delivers impressive performance with the new generation of BlueDIRECT new engine. The key is a direct injection system spray guided combustion and new piezo injectors with an injection pressure of 2900 psi, with fast, multi-spark ignition and new combustion process.
